Qualifications – James W. Schmidt, CPA
Greene County Treasurer

Experience:
As an attorney in 1976, I was hired by Nicholas Carrera,
Prosecuting Attorney of Greene County to handle
foreclosures and collections of real estate, personal
property and special assessments for the County Treasurer,
Joseph A. Finney. I continued this practice with
Prosecuting Attorney Michael R DeWine and William F.
Schenck until 1983 when I was appointed County Treasurer
upon the retirement of Mr. Finney. I was elected in 1984
and re-elected in 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004.

Education:
B.S. Miami University, Accounting
U.S. Army, Sergeant Infantry Vietnam
J.D. Stetson University College of Law
L.L.M. University of Missouri
Continuing education in law, accounting, real estate and
appraisal.

Personal:
Married to my wife Suzanne in 1985 and we have one
daughter, Katherine a junior at Miami University.
